The Erasmus Research Centre for Media, Communication, and Culture (ERMeCC) was founded in 2008 by members of the Departments of Media & Communication and the Department of Arts & Culture Studies. Its mission is to operate as an international, national, and local centre of expertise for high-quality research into the interrelations and interactions between media, society, and culture, with its members studying the social meanings of communication, media and cultural policies, distribution, reception, and production of media and culture, and the conditions associated with these processes. Research is empirical, interdisciplinary, and comparative, informed by but not limited to work media and communication studies and the sociology of culture. It provides a network and platform for researchers interested in carrying out interdisciplinary work on media, communication, and culture.
